The message on his favorite shirt is bold and frank: “PULL OUT OF IRAQ NOW.” According to him, there can be no two ways about it - We need to stop the war and bring our soldiers home as soon as possible. No, my friend is not a supporter of the Democrats, but has been an ardent supporter of the Republican Party for several years. He feels quite let down by the outrageous foreign policy of Bush when it comes to the war in Iraq.
My friend does not have any problem at all about the “War on Terror” and the battles against the terrorists in Afghanistan. He feels that the terrorists and their supporters brought it upon themselves by attacking the US on 9/11 without any provocation. However, there was no conceivable reason for Bush to declare war on Iraq. That country was already helpless after the first war and Saddam Hussein and his army posed no real threat to the might of America. In fact, he feels that the war in Iraq has needlessly resulted in the diversion of resources and energy away from the actual “War on Terror.”
