| | | | | mehtainc123@gmail.com by shreya mehta | | | Speculations were running wild with rumors of deals and contracts between Microsoft and Yahoo. Finally, the agreement to amalgamate search services of both the giants has been confirmed and a 10 year, $275 million agreement has been reached in the hopes of competing with the ultimate in search engines – Google. It has been finalized that under this agreement Microsoft’s Bing search engine will also power Yahoo Search alternatively Microsoft AdCenter would power Yahoo Search Marketing. If you are pondering as to what this is going to mean to small business owners; you better think again. Since your Yahoo rankings will soon undergo a change when Bing takes over the Yahoo Search Engine.
There is good news for your Yahoo Search Marketing Campaigns since your ads will been viewed across a larger number of websites. If your campaigns are running with Microsoft AdCenter and Yahoo Search Marketing; the amount of your work will be halved since you will only have to manage one campaign with effect from the change. This is will give you ample time to do other search marketing.
Also, your exposure increases which does mean that a larger variety of audience is going to view your advertisements. While it is definitely a very interesting thing for any website marketer, it does make the war between search engines more brutal. With increasing competition, the search engine space becomes interesting.
Google has always been the leader the major marketshare and almost completely dependent on search advertising for its revenue. Google has a solid foundation and a good name when it comes to the innovative part in search engines however; many experts claim that not many things have changed in Google SERP from what it was few years back. So where has the innovation aspect gone?
Ever since Bing was launched it has proved itself to webmaster’s search optimization efforts and with minimum tweaking (comparatively lesser efforts than Google) your site can be listed at the top of Bing’s search results. If you have a relatively new site, you could get it to the top faster on Bing than Google. We all know that Google’s requirements are a bit steadfast and if you are able to make your site rank well in Bing; it is going to be viewed by quite a large audience.
The fact remains - no one strategy works. But yes, constant relevant efforts and good content works to get and maintain high search engine rankings.
