Christmas Deals: It's Walmart Vs Amazon this year

This Christmas, it’s going to be Walmart vs Amazon. In order to compete against Amazon, giant retailer Walmart has begun offering customers to pick up online orders via drive thru at store locations. It’s faster than waiting for the online orders to be delivered. Also the shipping charges would not come into picture. One need not find a parking slot or deal with crowds. Walmart has even posted new service desks at the front of its stores to make it easier and convenient for shoppers to get their orders.

Raul Vazquez, CEO Walmart said that there was a time when the online and offline businesses were viewed as being different. But now they are realizing that they actually have a physical advantage thanks to their thousands of stores, which they can use to be No.1 online. With Christmas just a few days away, the company said that 40% of its online orders are being delivered through stores.
Amazon said that it doesn’t see shipping as a drawback. Craig Berman, spokesperson for Amazon said that shopping on Amazon means one need not fight the crowds, search for a parking space or fight through the traffic. They bring items to your doorstep.

According to estimates by trade publication Internet Retailer, Walmart makes just $1.7 billion in annual sales, badly trailing Amazon which reported $19.17 billion in annual revenues last year.

Also Walmart has been in the news since the last few days, with a shoot out happening in the parking. The latest news is that the Police has released information about the vehicle.

Another Wal-Mart related news is that Chris Brown, the 20 year old performer has deleted his Twitter account after Walmart Tirade. Chris had initially lashed out at Walmart in Connecticut after not being able to find his album Graffiti in the store.
