| | | | | The Reasons I Love My Cricut by Kathy Brandon | | | Why I Love My Cricut
At first, when I heard talk about the Cricut; I wondered why they were discussing an insect and couldn't picture what scrap booking had to do with it. When I realized what Cricut they were talking about, I knew I had to have one. Since then, I've discovered that there is far more to the Cricut than scrap booking. I've used my Cricut for sign making, vinyl lettering, school projects, cards making, and crafting.
Now that I have it, I can't imagine life without my Cricut (alright, so maybe I can). Before, there were long nights finishing projects, and I was never completely pleased in the end. Now, I can finish projects quickly and I'm so pleased with the finished product.
This summer, I needed a sign for a girls' camp I was a part of, so I called one of the young girls from my area. We bought vinyl made just for my machine and chose a Cricut cartridge. After a little instruction, she was able to make a camp flag, and it looked wonderful. She enjoyed herself and when it was done, she said she wanted her own Cricut! The very best part about the experience was that she felt really good about what she had done. The sign looked professional and she did it herself.
My son was recently spotlighted in his classroom. Rather than stewing about his spotlight poster, I used my Cricut and quickly made a simple and fun collage for him. With the push of a button and a Cricut cartridge, I can make perfect lettering in any size that I need. There are some amazing accents that came with the machine that I can use to embellish cards, posters and banners. I just love the way this machine is designed to help me save time.
I was asked to make a sign for a block parade. The neighbor who assigned me this task and I weren't particularly close, and I was nervous. I wasn't sure I could get the banner completed in time for the parade, but with my Cricut it was finished in just about an hour. Our friends and neighbors loved the sign and kept asking us how we'd done it and done it so fast. I gladly told them about my Cricut, and a couple said they'd like to try it.
I've been thinking about doing a project with vinyl lettering in my house and I am looking forward to discovering another way to use my Cricut. These days, vinyl lettering is added to wooden signs and wooden blocks. I have even seen favorite quotes and sayings put directly on a wall. Since I really love that look, I love that I no longer have to worry about paying for someone else to do my vinyl lettering. Now, I can use my Cricut to make vinyl lettering of my own and be happy with the results.
More than just a scrap booking tool, my Cricut has become something our family uses just about everyday, and I'm so happy I have it.
