| | | | | There is a little of Che in everyone's life (Part 1) by Tapesh Gautam | | | Each time i see a che cap,t-shirt,poster,etc.etc.etc.,i can't help but wonder if anyone involved in the entire life cycle of that particular product i.e cap,t-shirt etc. ever knew the right Che or more importantly Che for right reasons?
To all those who want stay in a comfortable equilibrium between acknowledgement of heroism pursuit of stability; I apologize for my ignorance and for also for probably for my immodest visualization, but let me just construct an example about a t-shirt to help associate a perspective to this discourse.
A boy going to a school in Manhattan(or any other similar part of the world for that matter)interprets success as the top floor of the tallest building he sees from his classroom window.Thankfully (for his parents who are also probably spending their lives in similar pursuits)he climbs up the ladder and owing to the mutually exclusive nature of his orientation always finds people who have similar perception of success because this circle never gives him the liberty to interact with people who are not likeminded. His co-existence with such contemporary people(and worlds)is similar to a rope with several threads constituting a systme dependednt on its entities ;but the entities are not interdependent.
Hence, after a few years(can also be referred to specialized education in Harward,Wharton etc.)the respective system which justifies his actions that proudly presents him to the world(yet another time for it)as a ruthless tool which can exploit all limited margins of error that life poses. In all these years;his text book have interchangebaly used exploitation as a synonym for optimization. He only remembers that that monetary gain is backbone of all other peripheral aspects of life. His appetite for self achievment is usually satisified when he is appreciated for changing
the balance of money which is made to appear as generation of money.Let us assume(for the sake of simplicity and without any abberation)that this guy is a CEO for a market leading cloth retail, and intends to get new products in market that will completely outwit the competitor moving a storey closer to top floor in the tallest building called success.
A similar market researcher(who has evolved through exactly the same course as this manager)will go out of the way to select a theme for his campaign and will find that a strange looking man for some strange reason from Argentina is a potential candidate next only to Superman and Phantom. He concludes that this character from Argentina (Che)can be projected as a hero for a certain class who think that revolution is such an entertainment. He is least bothered to know the quality of polpularity and sings to the tune of quantity.
So the t-shirt is finally produced and is noticed by a guy in a store who was exactly looking for something that would enhance his punk look at the rave party and will make him look particularly intellectual to his girl friend. He succeeds in his endeavour and secures one more thrilling night.Back in the mainland,a politician finds out that a certain brand is promoting a character which can be projected as anti-US and to critize such endeavors may secure his rightist image taking him a step closer to his own top floor of his own tallest building.
If we go even to the next level of this example as per the butterfly effect, things may get even more interesting. However,a slight dissection of the example is neccessary here.We find a set(most) of people encashing and taking motivation or using motivation from Che for reasons he was never associated with(infact despised).Hence the forms of motivations from Che very categorically are:
(a)Che the revenue earner and fashion icon for capitalists
(b)Che the romantic and handsome hero and the cool stuff to have for a college kid
(c)Che the comfortable and sensational icon to asociate with for the casual communist.
(d)Che the Warlord for power crazy dictators and goons.
(e)Che the villian for claiming to secure the world with unipolarization.
(f)Che the inspiration for utopian communists and contemporary thinkers and politicians.
(g)Che the saint for people of specific regions where he directly contributed and is part of the folklore.
However, when a cuban national slogan said"Be like Che"..Which form of motivation were people actually supposed to derive from Che.I am afraid,it is none of the above. It is an undercurrent which i can try to explain on the basis of my self proclaimed theory of core-connectivity.This simply means that if ones personality, actions or intentions transparently and almost supernaturally coincides with a similar personality, actions or intentions all peripheral parameters like success, fame, attraction and devotion are mapped automatically almost supernaturally(lot of schools of philosophy e.g.Sufism think on similar lines.)
I wont go into the historic details in this article.there is already a lot of it available everywhere. So the mass appeal for Che is probably because of a basic urge. The urge to clebrate heroism even if it sometimes means self-deception.Since Che's life history cover the whole spectrum of heroism ranging from altruism to sacrifice, everyone find his appetite for his respective form of heroism being addressed almost unknowingly. His picture and article generate the same kind of adrenalin rush as a movie and then overwhelm you when you realize that such a person actually walked upon this very earth(as Einstein had said for Mahatma Gandhi).
However, the unfortunate part is that Che Guevara has been reduced to a mere story which continues to inspire but fails to transform inspiration into action.I will touch upon this issue and also elaborate on various construtive forms of inspirations we can draw from Che and their channelization to achieve (a)practical goals in the world we live in now. | | | | Article Source : Article-treasure.com | | Publication date : 06-18-2008 | | | | Article by Tapesh Gautam | | | | "For those who choose to fight, life has a diferent flavour the protected will ever understand.." | | | | Keywords : Che, Guerilla Warfare, Inspiration, Hero, benicio del toro | | | | | |
