| | | | | Is Your Catabolic Energy Affecting Your Leadership? by Janice Bastani | | | I have often been asked, “How does one raise their awareness level?” Being able to know to ask this question shows that a person does have awareness. Too ethereal for you? Ok. Let’s imagine a scene from your world.
From the moment your bare feet hit the floor when you get out of bed in the morning you feel as though nothing is going to go your way that day and wham; you stub your big toe. “See I told you it was going to be a bad day!” you think to yourself. You shower, dress, eat and grab your travel mug and then jump in the car and mindlessly do what you have done every morning for the past few years. You get to the office hot and bothered from the travel nightmare which is your commute only to find that your computer is down and you were counting on printing out your report for that 10 am meeting. Again, you think, “Why does this always happen to me?” You decide to pull out your rough notes on a yellow pad and head to the meeting. Everyone who is presenting that morning made copies and neatly laid them out at each place at the table.
You get where I am going right. You are probably thinking; “I wish this day was over and I could just go home and hang out on the couch and watch the game.” This friend is Catabolic. It is the negative destructive mindset that 90% of the world lives in every single day of their lives.
You live here so what I am about to say will be a “right on!”, “don’t I know it” type of statement. Those who are Catabolic in their nature feel as if they never can catch a break. The world in which they live seems hopeless. “I can never win.” “Why even try.” “Failure always follows me.” “My life is sad.” “It’s my fault I’m no good.” “Why can’t anyone say something nice for a change.” “I feel so alone.” “I have no friends.” The list of negative phrases goes on and on.
These folks are living in the role of being the victim. They have become truly apathetic and they are totally resigned to being lethargic in everything they do. Does this sound like someone you know? Someone you are working with, married to, or love deeply? If it does, a shift in this energy level can be made. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it takes work and it can be totally achieved. Each of us carries around blocks which have been put their by our own emotional hijacking through words, actions, experiences and the like. Each and every one of us is a leader and the moment our feet hit the floor in the morning we “show up” in the world either Catabolic (negative) or Anabolic (positive) to those we interact with, work with and live with.
How will you show up tomorrow morning?
Will you be one of the 90% that live in the victim state and produce negative energy and actions? Or, will you become one of the 10% that live in the empowered state and produce positive energy and actions. The 10% understand how to be a successful leader. People resonate with them because they are able to affect them in a positive way.
Start tomorrow off on a new foot, think positively, speak positively and act positively. Use tomorrow as a test. See how others respond to you. See how your day goes. Find out how positivity makes you feel. Once you spend a day in the Anabolic state, you won’t want to fall back into your bad Catabolic habits.
