Improving Your Relationships with NLP

Better relationships with those around us: it's something most of us crave. And having a good rapport with everyone in our lives can certainly improve the quality of our own existence.

When one first hears the word "relationship," the mind turns almost automatically to those of a romantic nature. But we have "relationships" with anyone we relate to in the course of a day: family, friends, colleagues and even those we encounter for just a few brief minutes—the man who delivers your newspaper, your boss, colleagues, or the young woman who serves you your Starbucks fix every morning.

There are so many methods and techniques that are being taught around the world to help individuals improve the quality of their relationships, but perhaps none are as effective as NLP - neuro-linguistic programming. What makes NLP so effective with human relationships? NLP, is a powerful methodology and set of techniques that among countless other applications in personal and professional development, can help you build rapport and enhance interpersonal communication skills.

But what exactly is NLP? First introduced to the mainstream in the 1970s by Dr Richard Bandler and his colleague John Grinder, NLP is described in the Oxford English Dictionary as "a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behavior and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them" and "a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behavior."

That may all sound very much like academic mumbo jumbo, but as any person with NLP Training can tell you it really is not. NLP offers a powerful methodology and set of techniques that can be applied to almost any aspect of a person’s day-to-day life to improve it and help them achieve life and career goals they may have thought were unattainable. NLP simply makes it easier for anyone to model successful behaviors, attitudes and emotional states they see in others.

Finding a good NLP seminar can be a great introduction to the power and life changing potential of the practice. One of the benchmarks of a really great NLP Trainer is having achieved certification from one of the founders himself, Dr Richard Bandler and the official Society of NLP. Individuals who achieve this certification have undergone NLP Practitioner Training that is of the highest standard, making them exceptionally qualified to introduce people to the benefits of their craft.
