Indian Golf News Is Quite Positive

With golf standards having risen considerably in India, Indian golf news is quite positive nowadays. Indian golfers such Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, Arjun Atwal, SSP Chowrasia and Shiv Kapur are now a regular feature of golf tournaments organized by the PGA Tour. Recently, Chowrasia has participated in Open de France Alstom golf tournament, while Jeev Milkha Singh, Shiv Kapur and Jyoti Randhawa are playing the Barclays Scottish Open.

Jeev Milkha Singh , the first Indian golfer to become a member of the European Tour, most recent win was in 2008, when he won the Bank Austria GolfOpen. In fact, Jeev is one of the most well known Asian golfers internationally. Other Indian golfers too are striving to make a mark for themselves in the international circuit.

As India is located in Asia, it is important for a golf enthusiast to be updated on the latest Asian golf news as well. The latest buzz here is that the Asian and European PGA tours are keen on collaborating and hosting more co-sanctioned golf tournaments, so as to invigorate the game of golf globally. Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand is the number one golfer in Asia, if one looks at the order of merit in the Asian Tour. India’s Jyoti Randhawa is not far behind at number three.

The Asian and Indian golfing fraternity is also excited at the prospect of 20 year old Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar playing at the British Open. After turning professional and joining the Asian Tour in 2006, Bhullar has been billed as one of the most promising young stars to come out of the Tour. Joining him at the prestigious British Open will be the Asian golfers Jeev Milkha Singh, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Prayad Marksaeng and China’s Liang Wen-chong.

It would not be surprising if an Indian player goes on to win the four majors in the near future. Judging by the time and money invested by Indian golfers and administrators, this could happen sooner rather than later. The new generation of Indian and Asian golfers is surely getting ready to turn potential into reality and be the new world golf newsmakers.
