Before you start, do a bit of research and learn about yoga fitness programs. Each one is designed to benefit your body and mind in a different way. Yoga is one of the most popular ways to lose weight, improve posture, relax, and sleep better.

Here are some tips to help you choose the best program for you, and get the maximum results:

1. If you are a beginner, try Hatha Yoga. You can start with basic yoga movements to improve your flexibility even if you do not exercise at all. The postures, called asanas, were initially designed as postures for meditation. They strengthen the body and relax the mind.
2. Compare different programs and make sure that you understand the benefits; some yoga styles are designed to slow down the aging process, others to assist in recovery from injuries.
3. Some yoga fitness styles, like Bikram Yoga, may be too physically demanding for you. Bikram Yoga is usually practiced in studio heated to 105°F (40.6°C) and that is why it is called Hot Yoga as well.
4. Try to make yoga practice your priority. If you exercise every day you will see the results soon. Start slowly, and make sure you follow instructions.
5. You can practice yoga at home but it is a good idea to enrol in yoga classes, especially if you are a beginner. An experienced teacher can help you do the exercises correctly and avoid strain.
6. Just like with any other exercise, eating before a yoga class is not a good idea. Try to eat 2 or 3 hours before your yoga practice. Avoid alcohol, and heavy or spicy food. The best time to practice yoga is in the morning before breakfast.
7. The clothes you wear when practising yoga should be loose and comfortable. Choose tops and pants that are not too big or baggy, so the teacher can see your posture better.
8. Follow yoga fitness tips included in training videos. Some of them will help you redesign your lifestyle and achieve better health, emotional balance and clear mind.
9. Breathing is very important. Yoga teachers say often, “When you can control your breath, you can control everything”. Yoga breathing techniques are very powerful and they have many benefits. They help reduce stress, bring more oxygen to our blood, and improve concentration and focus.
10. Buy quality yoga accessories, like yoga mats or yoga pillows to take full benefits of your yoga fitness classes. A quality yoga mat will prevent you from slipping when you are doing Asanas, and it will last longer. Plus, some inexpensive mats contain chemical components that are toxic.
