Days Out With The Kids During The Summer Holidays

The arrival of the summer holidays is a familiar peril for any parent. On one hand they have excitable children looking forward to a summer of fun, whilst the parents worry about keeping their child entertained.

As any parent knows, keeping a child entertained for such a long period is a difficult task, as is enjoying the time themselves. Below are a few ideas for keeping both child and parent entertained during those summer months.

Local Activity Groups

Many schools and community centres operate activity groups for school children during the summer holidays. With activities ranging from arts and crafts through to canoeing and sports activities, it’s guaranteed that there will be something for every child to enjoy.

Children and their friends can simply enrol with the group and after paying a small subscription fee, they are free to choose which activities they want to participate in. These groups usually run from 9am to 3pm, keeping the children occupied during normal school hours.

Simply enquire at your child’s school or your local community centre to find these brilliant activity schemes.

Camping Trips

Taking your children on a camping trip is fun for all the family and very affordable too. Finding a family friendly campsite is a simple task, and with tent pitches starting from £10 per night, it can be a very low cost break.

When looking for a camp site, it is always worth looking to see if there are any activities or local attractions around to entertain the children. Many lakes have campsites near to them, opening up the possibilities of water-sports and other activities.

Theme Park Breaks

Finally, you may want to consider taking your children to a theme park as a treat. To make the most of your time, you may want to consider staying for more that one day, staying over at one of theme park’s hotels.

With deals and offers available for families, such as ‘kids go free’ or offers on free hotels, staying over at a theme park is more affordable than most imagine.

With theme parks such as Lego Land, Alton Towers and Drayton Manor, there’s something for everyone, and an enjoyable few days to be had by all.

When purchasing a theme park break, it is often useful to compare what offers are on, so searching the internet is good idea, allowing you to compare prices, offers and a range of hotels.
