What happens at modelling auditions?

Modelling auditions for most of us can be likened to what we see on television every week when we tune to watch Britain’s Next Top Model. However unlike the contestants on these television shows, those attending modelling auditions very often only have one chance to make a good lasting impression on their judges.

Auditions will vary from one to the next depending on the type of modelling job that is on offer and what type of model the client is looking for. For example, if the client is looking for someone to model their latest sportswear designs, they may be looking for someone with a toned physique. On the other hand, if they are looking for someone to model a new makeup range, they may be searching for someone with a clear complexion and perfect facial features.

Modelling can be very difficult to get into, however by getting a helping hand with an agency such as Audition Now, aspiring models can conquer the most difficult hurdle- actually getting a chance to audition.

When attending an audition or casting day, it is important to bring some examples of your work with you in a portfolio. Try to think about the type of modelling you would be doing for the client and pick photos that would be more suited to what they are looking for and that show off your versatility as a model.

When thinking about what to wear, again think of the client’s brief. Try to dress in a way that shows off your best features but that looks stylish and on trend. The most important thing however is to dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed.

By signing up to Audition Now you could get more expert advice. Members must be aged 18 years or over and will receive up to three messages every week at a cost of £1.50 each.
