I just want to mention an online place place i came through lately that has been built in for people to meet new people and friends. The name of it is www.anybeat.com

The public square has been built it on the idea of sharing interests, it has open categories such as movies, music, art, food, politics, philosophy, misc, believes, etc and there you can create post about something you like and people will start to chat about it along the way. That looks like a natural flow, and you can get to meet new friends and new people based on this type of interests. Overall you start to meet new friends most likely based on sharing common interests and talking about common things you like. And it's all the idea behind anybeat.com, being a place for people to share, have fun, or chat in a more serious way with other people and getting to know them. Another great unique feature it has, is you don't need to provide necessarily your real name and so to get in. All you have to do is to pick a good old nick name and start out chatting or sharing. This come together with the idea of building a big online space of freedom and love where people can relax and meet together.
You never need any picture id to make new friend. :)
